Freshfields integration committee stale

Freshfields is preparing to disband its European integration committee. The committee was created in 2000, when the Magic Circle firm merged with Germany's Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Loeber. Since you figure if they haven't integrated the two European firms at this point, they're never going to.

It's time to insert the obligatory reference to Germany's struggling economy, which may cause the firm to downsize its German practice. The firm denies this, of course.

The dissolution of the integration committee came up during a review of the firm's operations, which will eventually culminate in present COO Kirk Stephenson assuming the new position of managing director. He is expected to share power with Chief executive Hugh Crisp.
